SWIMMING
At Broom Cottages Primary and Nursery School the children attend swimming lessons from Year 1 at our onsite pool. The lessons are planned in order for all children to reach the following end of Key Stage 2 Swimming Curriculum expectations:
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres using 2 recognised strokes.
Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
As part of the Sport Premium reporting requirements, we must report the number of children at Broom Cottages Primary and Nursery School who met the swimming expectations at the end of the academic year.
The following information relates to the 2017/18 academic year:
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres using 2 recognised strokes (Front and Back)
- 34 of 37 (91.8%) Year 6 Children met the standard
- 29 of 35 (82.8%) Year 5 Children met the standard
- 18 of 27 Year 4 Children met the standard
- 19 of 40 Year 3 Children met the standard.
Perform safe self-rescue in in different water-based situations
- 36 of 37 (97.3%) Year 6 Children met the standard
- 33 of 35 (94.3%) Year 5 Children met the standard
- 23 of 27 (85.2%) Year 4 Children met the standard
- 38 of 40 (95%) Year 3 Children met the standard.
