Governing Body
Governors are the strategic leaders of our school, they have a vital role to play alongside the school leadership and staff to ensure every child gets the best possible education.
Broom Cottages Primary and Nursery School Governors have a strong focus on ensuring they:
- set the aims and objectives for the school
- set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
- set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
- monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
- be a source of challenge and support to the Headteacher (a critical friend)
We have a strong supportive Governing Body led by Mr Ali Khan our Chair of Governors. The Governing Body is made up of Staff, Parent, Co-opted and Authority Governors and an Associate Member. All Governors can be contacted through the school office.
Staff Governors are elected by their colleagues in school, Parent Governors are elected by the other parents and in certain circumstances are appointed by the Governing Body. Community Governors are appointed by the Governing Body and the County Councillors for this area appoint the Authority Governors. The Governing Body also appoint Associate Members to the Governing Body.
