Websites For Digital Home Learning
Accelerated Reader
Reading is one of the most beneficial and enjoyable activities your child can continue to do whilst at home and we know that lots of you have been reading together and having daily family story times.
In school, we use Accelerated Reader to track your child’s reading practise and we would like those of you with children in Years 3 – 6, who have access to the internet, to start using the programme to complete quizzes linked to the stories you are reading at home. Feel free to do this together, talking about the story and questions with your child.
Each week we will announce the class who has read the most words on our Facebook page. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get quizzing!
How to Quiz:
1. Visit: https://ukhosted85.renlearn.co.uk/2235734/default.aspx
2. Your child’s username will be the first letter of their first name and the first four letters of their surname. E.g. Charlie Smith = Username: CSMIT
*Some children will have a number after their username, but they should be able to tell you if this is the case*
3. Password: abc
4. Select Accelerated Reader (the middle, orange button)
5. Find your book!
It’s a good idea to check that there is a quiz for your book before you start reading it as not all books have quizzes. Check the author too to make sure you are quizzing on the right version of the story as the questions might not make sense otherwise.
6. Get quizzing!
To get started, why not listen to Sharon read ‘Peace at Last’ on the Broom’s Bedtime Stories page then get quizzing?
